
Dr Sedick Camroodien
Dr S.A. Camroodien is a subspecialist Gynaecological Oncologist in private practice at Melomed Gatesville Hospital, Cape Town, where he is committed to bringing accessible subspecialist gynaecological oncology care to the Cape Flats and surrounding communities. His practice encompasses the full spectrum of gynaecological oncology, advanced benign gynaecological surgery, minimally invasive surgery, robotic gynaecological surgery, colposcopy, and comprehensive women's healthcare.
He graduated from the University of Cape Town with an MBChB and subsequently obtained the Diploma in Obstetrics (SA), Fellowship of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa [FCOG (SA)], MMed (O&G) (UCT), Certificate in Gynaecological Oncology (SA), and MPhil in Gynaecological Oncology (UCT).
Dr Camroodien has a special interest in Gestational Trophoblastic Disease (GTD), cervical cancer prevention and treatment, endometrial and ovarian malignancies, minimally invasive and robotic gynaecological surgery, and enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS). His research has focused on all aspects of GTD, including molar pregnancy, low-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN), and high-risk GTN, with a particular interest in optimising evidence-based management and improving outcomes. He is actively involved in postgraduate education, multidisciplinary cancer care, and continuing professional development. His academic and clinical focus is on translating evidence-based medicine into high-quality, patient-centred care while advancing women's health and expanding access to subspecialist gynaecological oncology services.
