
Dr Lovemore Mapahla
Lovemore Mapahla is a biostatistician affiliated with the Modelling and Simulation Hub, Africa (MASHA) in the Department of Statistical Sciences and the Department of Medicine at the University of Cape Town. His research and consulting expertise spans medical statistics and the quantitative modelling of infectious diseases and drug resistance — including malaria, HIV, tuberculosis, and COVID-19 — alongside methodological work in missing data and joint modelling of survival and longitudinal outcomes. His broader research portfolio focuses on infectious disease epidemiology across sub-Saharan Africa.
Lovemore currently provides biostatistical consultation to the Department of Medicine at the University of Cape Town, supporting Master of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy candidates as well as Principal Investigators across the department's research programmes. He also serves as a teaching assistant in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Faculty of Health Sciences, at Stellenbosch University.
